Skipper Otto’s Sonia Strobel has introduced her Canadian customers to Inuit ice fishers Darryl Siusangnark (shown here) and Simon Qamanirq and the nuances of the lake-caught Arctic char they pull from frozen northern lakes.

Celine Terfloth (photo above) and Sonia Strobel help Skipper Otto members pick up their orders. They created Canada’s first community supported fishery (CSF) in 2008, inspired by farm-based community supported agriculture (CSA). But unlike the typical weekly vegetable box, CSF members pay upfront at the beginning of the season, then use their credits to shop for seafood as it arrives from Skipper Otto’s harvesters.
