When the Travis Forstbauer, top right, and his family bought its 90-acre Chilliwack farm in 1988, Fraser Valley farming was a conventional affair, driven by chemicals and machines. And it showed: the Forstbauer’s couldn’t find a sing worm in their soil.
Luckily, Opa Forstbauer, a German relative, held a PhD in agriculture, and the clan facilitated soil rejuvenation on the farm using methods inspired by Opa.
