On October 2, join 12 local chefs from some of Vancouver's most beloved restaurants, preparing their favourite family recipes in the fields of Vancouver’s local organic farm, the UBC Farm.

This event is a fundraiser for the UBC Farm and Chefs’ Table Society. The Chefs' Table Society of British Columbia is a chef-administered, province-wide collaborative dedicated to the exchange of information between culinary professionals. Proceeds from the event will help support the ongoing food systems research and education at the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm and Chefs’ Table Society’s future Culinary Centre, a multi-faceted hub bringing culinary heritage and educational resources to professionals and the public.

The first Joy of Feeding took place in 2011, created by chair Meeru Dhalwala, Co-Owner/Chef, Vij’s Restaurant and cookbook author.  She envisioned a food festival that celebrated multicultural families and foods and healthy farms. The first Joy of Feeding featured mothers, our first cooks for humanity.

"The joy comes from feeding and nourishing ourselves, our family and friends, and sitting at the table,” she says. “We aren’t talking about preparing gourmet meals that TV chefs make look perfect and easy. We are talking about feeding your loved ones simple and delicious meals that have emotional meaning.”  (The Georgia Straight, June 15, 2016 article)
