Beaufort Vineyard and Estate Winery
With the Beaufort mountain range to the west; Georgia Strait to the east; a sunny, southwesterly aspect and 12 gently sloping vineyard acres, Beaufort surely boasts one of Vancouver Island’s most enviable vineyard positions. Winemaker Freya Timmermans crafts the vintage in small batches for a unique expression of our Island’s cool coastal climate. Expect youthful, fruit-driven reds, and lively, aromatic whites and vermouth.
In September 2019, Beaufort became the first organically certified vineyard on Vancouver Island (PACS #16-799). We grow 10 different varieties on the estate; Ortega, Siegerrebe, Pinot Gris, Petite Milo, Gewurtztraminer, Schonburger, Marechal Foch, Leon Millot, Lucie Kuhlmann and Pinot Noir. Our focus is on estate and Vancouver Island grown grapes. We champion our cool climate! A wholehearted commitment to sustainable and regenerative farming guides everything we do in the vineyard; from cover crop trials, to the use of biochar, green compost, and regulated deficit irrigation. Almost all vineyard tasks are completed by hand––we strive for vine balance, healthy soil, and optimal ripeness at harvest.
Our team in the vineyard, winery and tasting room is small, talented, and passionate about our Island region. Give us a call, shoot us an email, or better still, come by the winery; we’d love to host you, and share our stories over a glass of wine. Please see our website for up-to-date information on opening hours and tasting appointments.
