About this recipe

2 shots Liberty Distillery Railspur No. 1 white whisky
½ of a heritage or heirloom apple, cored and diced
juice of 1 lemon
¾ shot mulled simple syrup
1 egg white
apple slice, to garnish
rosemary sprig, to garnish
cinnamon stick, to garnish

Mulled Simple Syrup

simple syrup
spices*
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 orange, sliced in half

*Simple Syrup Spices: Use any combination of the following: 1 tsp star anise 1 tsp whole cloves 1 tsp cardamom seeds (removed from their pods) ½ tsp white peppercorns 1 whole nutmeg 1 cinnamon stick

Wrap all the simple syrup spices in a cheesecloth and cinch with a knot. Place in a pot with the water, sugar, and orange, and bring to a light boil over medium-high heat, stirring often. Once the sugar dissolves, simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely. Once cool, remove and discard the orange and spice sachet.

To make the cocktail, pour all ingredients into a shaker or large Mason jar. Top with ice about 2/3 of the way, cover, and shake, Baby, shake (about 30 seconds)! Strain into a rocks glass and garnish with a slice of apple, a sprig of rosemary, and/or cinnamon stick. Enjoy cold.
